Are you a techno producer looking to achieve a modern and authentic sound?
Today's techno relies on a finely tuned sound to punch through sound systems while still retaining the element of rawness that makes it so exciting and fresh.
Although it has evolved from its beginnings dating back to the 1980s, some things have remained the same. You need a solid kick and bass foundation along with strong percussion to lay a foundation for synths, vocals, and fx.
If these key elements don't come through properly it won't stand up to kind of tracks you hear being played out by top DJs. A weak kick, loose bass, lacklustre drums, or an unbalanced mix that's either harsh or muddy are all culprits that can get in the way of your song's success.
I've mixed and mastered electronic music, including techno, for 30 years. With hardware such as the API2500 and SSL compressor I can squeeze out extra impact that plugins can't provide.

- Achieving the right balance of low-end power and smooth highs takes years of practice.
- You might not be able to pinpoint the exact problems, you just know something is off.

History of Techno
Techno's roots began in the 1970s Germany when Kraftwerk started to introduce the world to a new form of music. It was based on electronic instruments with a vision of the future. Although still in its infancy, technology had progressed to a point that gave a glimpse into an entirely different view of how the world would work.
Picking up on these themes in the 1980s were artists from across the globe in the heartland of industrial Detroit. Groups like Model 500 took the rhythms of Kraftwerk and infused their own sense of groove. Eventually techno, the name first used by Juan Atkins to describe this new genre, started to take hold across both America and Europe.
Beginning as slower and more funk based, it progressed to a harder 4/4 direction with DJs like Sven Vath and Adam Beyer championing this harder edge sound.
Today, techno is a mainstay across the world and one of the leading genres of music on a commercial scale. It has splintered off into multiple sub genres with both the founding members still active but a host of fresh new talent taking this music into the next generation.
