Default using winrar to compress stems?

Quick Question... can I use winRAR to compress my stems to save time when uploading them to your ftp? or does it affect the wavs quality or anything?

Cheers Jesse

Paul,

Hi good question. Rar is a lossless format so it wont affect the quality at all. Generally what you will see is that any silence in the files gets reduced to nothing. So if you had a stem with say just a few crashes the ending filesize would be very small, just a few megs sometimes.

But it's perfectly safe for audio.

Have to give a big thumbs up to Winrar after comparing it to Winzip this week. Internet where I'm at currently is poor so had to find a way to make uploading a bit easier. Have found that Winrar can take a 70-80 meg file down to around 50 meg. Winzip was only reducing the size by about 4-5megs.. So for now Winrar would be preferred.
