You'll see I dont spend a whole lot of time setting stuff up its more about just keeping the flow and getting the track finished, in other words not getting tied up into too much detail -- especially early on.

Yeah when I mean setting stuff up I meant mixing wise. The way I show in the vids is the same as I taught you as far as going from loop to arrange. I do some premixing along the way and then polish the mix at the very end.
But signal flow wise things stay pretty simple and slowly get built upon.
They are uploading now, took all weekend to edit, producing these took a bit longer than I thought.. I think overall there is just over 5 hours of videos for this initial set.
i thought i'd read in a couple different places the common practice (for lack of a better term) or maybe best practices is to run the faders no higher than -6 db? or is that just when recording an actually audio signal in?
Recording should be about -18db average with a few peaks going up to -6db.
Internally mixing though I usually like the kick and snare to be a bit lower than 0 so when they mix at the master buss you are around 0db total. But then after compression and limiting you might have some more room to jack them up from there.
As per a question from Andrew I'll do a vid on proper gain structure especially relating to compressors so that there arent big level differences and problems going on.
nice, ive been having better luck lately from when i first started this thread. but looking forward to the updated vid as this is still an area im looking for improvement
